Vikings hire Saints assistant Jordan Traylor in a big promotion

After making multiple appearances during this year’s league showcases, New Orleans Saints offensive assistant Jordan Traylor will be heading elsewhere this offseason. The quickly rising 31-year old will be taking his coaching talents to Minnesota, to work with head coach Kevin O’Connell and his Vikings offense.

In Minnesota, Traylor will serve as the team’s assistant offensive coordinator as well as the team’s quarterbacks coach via Ian Rapoport. Quite the promotion for Traylor who spent the majority of his time working on the defensive side of the ball early on before transitioning to the tight end room recently.

The hiring of Traylor fills a significant void for the Vikings left by Grant Udinski, who departed from Minnesota this offseason to become the Jaguars offensive coordinator under Liam Coen. Traylor now gets the opportunity to learn under one of the best offensive minds in the game in O’Connell, while coaching one of the NFL’s most talented groups led by Justin Jefferson and co.

This move likely puts Traylor in position for a promotion during next years cycle, potentially as a full-time OC somewhere.
